The National Assembly Committee on Appointments has given a green light to three Cabinet nominees to join President William Ruto's Cabinet Secretarial team.

William Kabogo was nominated to head the ICT ministry, Mutahi Kagwe (Agriculture) and former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui (Investment and Trade).

The approval now paves the way for a debate in Parliament before approving and presenting the names to President Ruto for appointment.

The ICT Ministry is currently being led in an acting capacity by Prime CS Musalia Mdavadi, the Agriculture docket is temporarily under Environment CS Aden Duale and Salim Mvurya, who heads the Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Ministry, is the acting Trade CS.

President Ruto made fresh nominations and reshuffles in his cabinet on December 19, 2024, which included ministerial positions, state corporations and appointments to Kenya’s foreign missions abroad.

In its report, the 20-member committee said that the trio demonstrated knowledge of topical, administrative and technical issues on their nominated dockets and have the requisite abilities, academic qualifications and professional experience to be approved for appointment.
