Parents thank Babu Owino for his online classes after their children pass KCPE

Shortly after the results were released by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Wednesday, parents went online to praise the legislator for his contribution to their children's commendable performance in Mathematics.

Babu was conducting online revision lessons on a weekly basis, taking the pupils through one-hour sessions of learning Mathematics.

He launched the sessions at the onset of Covid-19 to help learners who were away from school study. 

On Facebook, Joab Ochieng wrote to the MP: "KCPE mathematics revision that you took the pupils through had 70% content relations, Asante mheshimiwa."

Aydon Wyki wrote "Congratulations honorable Babu Owino for the good work you did for our kids we've seen the results."

"Pupils who had created their time and watched Babu's lectures have passed highly. Congratulations Babu and your pupils," added another user.

Responding to the heaped applauds the firebrand legislator noted that he is equally proud of his efforts, vowing to continue with his sessions.

"Thank you Kenyans for appreciating my efforts in the 2022 KCPE Exams. I’m so proud of our children and I will keep teaching and inspiring our kids to the best of my ability. Education is the key that unlocks the golden door to freedom," he wrote on Facebook.

The idea behind the online classes was motivated by an urge to encourage candidates and help them secure vital tools to help them succeed in the future.

"The main aim of why I am doing this is so that I can motivate our candidates to pass the examinations. Because if I came from Nyalenda slums selling chang'aa, then you as a candidate can also make it," Babu said before starting one of his lessons.

To further reach more students who are limited from accessing his online lessons, Babu said he will start moving to different regions in the country from January 2023.
