'Pack up and go': CS Mutua gives rogue employment agencies one-week ultimatum

Labour Cabinet Secretary Dr Alfred Mutua

The government has issued a one-week ultimatum to rogue labour agencies known for duping job seekers.

Labour Cabinet Secretary Dr Alfred Mutua noted that the Ministry will release a list of licensed agencies operating in the country.

"We are going to make sure we align this system, and I want to give notice to rogue agents. I give you one week to pack and move away from Kenya," Mutua said.

Mutua added that plans are on course to ensure that more workers leave the country for employment opportunities abroad.

"We are looking to see to it that the number of Kenyans who travel abroad increases from 2000 to at least 10,000 per week," Mutua added.

On his part, Prime CS and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi noted that Kenya and Germany are set to sign a bilateral labour agreement that will see job opportunities for 250,000 skilled workers; spread across various sectors.

Mudavadi also led calls for peace for the stability of the country's business environment. He also urged Kenyans to pick their passports to facilitate such processes noting that at least 110,000 passports are lying uncollected.

The two were speaking during the Mkulima Majuu Programme Send-off Ceremony for United Kingdom Workers - KICC, Nairobi.
