Oscar Sudi, George Aladwa among MPs yet to speak in Parliament since swearing-in
More than half the membership of the National
Assembly have spoken less than ten times since they were sworn into the August
House.
A report released by Mzalendo Trust indicates
that on average, Members of Parliament spoke ten times in the last one year.
The report covers the period from when the MPs
were sworn in on September 8, 2022 and tracks the number of times the lawmakers
made contributions on the floor of both Houses.
In the National Assembly, the most active MPs
were, Makali Mulu (Kitui Central), Beatrice Elachi (Dagoretti North), James Nyikal
(Seme), Ken Chonga (Kilifi South), and Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku (Mbeere North).
The least active members of the National Assembly
were; George Aladwa (Makadara), Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West), Oscar Sudi (Kapseret),
Ernest Ogesi (Vihiga), and Fred Kapondi (Mt Elgon).
These legislators have all made no contribution
on the floor of the House since taking their oath of office.
Their counterparts in the Senate were also
ranked with the number of contributions per Senator.
The most active
Senators were; Samson Cherargei (Nandi), Eddy Oketch (Migori),
John Kinyua (Laikipia), Mohammed Faki (Mombasa), Tabitha Mutinda (Nominated).
Those with the least number of contributions
on the floor of the Senate were; Mirah Abdullahi (Nominated, 14 times), Joyce Korir
(Nominated, 12 times), Shakilla Abdalla (Nominated, 12 times), George Mbugua (Nominated,
10 times), Issa Boy Juma (Kwale, 8 times).
