Siaya governor James Orengo has asked President William Ruto to stop threatening the opposition and find ways of solving the problems that are affecting Kenya.

Orengo said threats had been employed by almost all the successive regimes right from independence but has never solved problems.

“Jomo Kenyatta and Moi would threaten people… we want to tell Ruto that there is no need of threatening people, if there is a problem, let us solve it,” Orengo said during a Sunday service in Ugunja.

The governor argued that the anti-government demonstrations are no longer about Raila Odinga, but about the hard economic times that Kenyans are going through.

Governor Orengo besieged the President to be human enough and understand that the cost of living has become unbearable to the Kenyan citizens hence the demonstrations which were witnessed in almost every part of this country last week.

The County chief reiterated that President Ruto must rise to the occasion and know that the solution to Kenyans’ grievances is not police brutality, threats or intimidation.
