One dead, 3 injured after vehicle ferrying miraa rams pickup in Kirinyaga

One person has been confirmed dead and three others severely injured after a vehicle ferrying miraa was involved in an accident at Kabonge area on Kagumo-Karatina road in Kirinyaga County.

Witnesses said the driver of the Toyota Probox appeared to lose control due to speed and rammed an oncoming pickup as he descended a hill.

Police from Sagana Traffic Department arrived at the scene of the accident shortly after and coordinated the clearing of the wreckages of the two vehicles.

The injured were rushed to ACK Mt. Kenya Hospital in Kerugoya while the body of the deceased was moved to the Kerugoya hospital mortuary.

Residents have raised concern over an increase in accident incidents along the road, most of which they claimed were caused by vehicles transporting miraa.
