Aspiring West Mugirango Member of Parliament Griffins Omwenga claims the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals cannot work with Deputy President William Ruto's UDA party for the 2022 elections.

Omwenga argues that the OKA principals have long been allied to ODM leader Raila Odinga and they would not compromise to join DP Ruto's camp.

“All the OKA principals were in NASA; If they were planning to decamp to any other party, they would have done it by now,” Omwenga said during an interview wih Citizen TV's DayBreak show on Friday.

He added: “It is just a short separation, in the fulness of time, they will go back to the original suitor who was Raila Odinga.”

The aspiring lawmaker went forth to state that the political aspirations and beliefs of the OKA members do not align with those of the Deputy President-led party and thus a compromise would be tinting their image before Kenyans.

“Look at Kalonzo, he can never ever join Ruto, you know Ruto’s check card and political history; Kalonzo would never want to taint the good name that he has acquired over a period of more than 30 years in politics, never,” he said.

"Mudavadi has been crying out for the economic development of this country at one time he was a finance minister and knows where this country is and can never join Ruto,” Omwenga noted.

Omwenga similarly stated that the OKA principals still have enough time to increase their value as politicians within the political bargaining system.

Aspiring Mathare MP Billian Ojiwa underscored the importance of OKA members joining coalitions in a bid to unite the country.

“If we really care about this country, it is about time to forget about our egos and say enough is enough and move forward together,” he said.

He cautioned the principals saying that there was a need rid of their indecisiveness as too much time could render them losing relevance in the political race.

“The more they waste time trying to add value, the more there are other players coming in; Odinga or Ruto do not need all the votes from Ukambani, they just need a certain percentage. If they can get them from the governors, they will say, ‘you have been playing hard to get and move on,” he said.
