‘OKA is inconsequential in presidential race whether they stand alone or back anyone’ Senator Olekina says

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina.

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has dismissed the hype from One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principal Musalia Mudavadi about his upcoming major declaration which he claims  will shake the country.

Olekina, speaking to Citizen TV’s Day Break show on Thursday, termed the entire OKA outfit as an insignificant player in the August 9 race to State House.

“I don’t think the One Kenya Alliance is a deciding factor in this election, this election is a two-man race,” stated Olekina, dismissing claims that an OKA presidential candidate will be a determinant on Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s prospects.

“It is quite clear that the person who we prayed will be able to deliver victory for Kenyans is Raila Odinga,” he added.

The senator further downplayed the Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula, Gideon Moi and Mudavadi-led alliance’s power should they decide to back either Ruto or Odinga’s bid, terming such hopes as misconceived.

“That is inconsequential, people have already made their decision and it is quite clear,” Olekina said.

He added: “If you traverse the counties, even Mt. Kenya region, you will see the amount of gain that Odinga has made over the last few months since he started climbing the mountain.”

Mudavadi, during the Amani National Congress (ANC) National Delegates Conference on Sunday, promised to make a declaration on January 23 that will shake the entire country.

While urging Kenyans from across the country to make sure they are near a TV set on the material day, the ANC leader claimed history will be made.

"Sitaki kutoa siri zote sahii sababu nitakuwa nimetoa utamu na ladha, lakini siku hiyo ANC itatoa msimamo ambao utakuwa kama msisimko wa wa ardhi katika siasa za Kenya," Mudavadi said.

At the same time, he said he was not worried that other OKA principals are also eying the country's top job.

He asked Kenyans to stop reading too much into it, arguing  that Moi's KANU had already declared their Presidential candidate ahead of a joint nomination.

Mudavadi has also maintained that he is not being courted by DP Ruto to form an alliance ahead of the polls.
