Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has denied businessman Jimi Wanjigi access to its forthcoming National Delegates Convention (NDC) claiming that he is not a party delegate.

This is after Wanjigi on Sunday claimed that he is an ODM delegate from Nairobi and will be attending the NDC slated for 25th and 26th February.

"I will definitely attend, I am not only a life member but I am also a delegate from Nairobi. So I will attend in that capacity as well as a presidential candidate," said Wanjigi in a press briefing.

Responding to Wanjigi's statement, ODM chairman George Aladwa said the businessman is not shortlisted as a delegate. He added that the entire list of delegates invited to the convention has already been submitted and Wanjigi's name is not included.

"Whereas Jimmy Wanjigi is listed as a life member of ODM, I can hereby confirm that the said Jimmy Wanjigi is not listed as a delegate from Nairobi county," Aladwa said in a statement addressed to the press on Monday.

"The ODM Party Nairobi County elections from polling centers, Ward and Branches were held last year 2021... and I have checked the list of delegates and I have not found his name either from the Polling Centre, Ward, Branch or county level," added Aladwa.

ODM has now directed Wanjigi to refrain from alleging he is a delegate, further urging other party members to countercheck if they have been shortlisted as delegates to avoid any confusions before the meeting.

"This is, therefore, a caution to one Jimi Wanjigi to desist from claiming to be a legitimate delegate when he is just an ordinary and life member of the party," he said.
