A day after the Uganda Government sent the annual Nyege Nyege festival belly up, citing moral decadence, fun-lovers and festival goers will be pleased to know the festival will still go on as planned.

According to Don Wanyama, CEO of Vision Group, the festival will go ahead as planned, with the caveat that security "will have to do what they have to do to maintain order."

In other news, the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) reported that Ugandan Prime Minister Robina Nabbanja had approved the festival after reaching an agreement with the Nyege Nyege organizers and other stakeholders that it would take place but under strict guidelines.

Tororo Woman MP Sarah Opendi sparked a debate in Ugandan Parliament about the carnival, telling legislators that the event, which is set to take place in Jinja in mid-September, is a breeding ground for sexual immorality.

According to the MP, who is perceived by many as a moralist, allowing the festival to take place risks encouraging homosexuality among young people.

According to the Monitor, Tourism Minister Martin Mugarra questioned Ms Opendi's claims, claiming that over 8,000 foreign tourists had already paid for their tickets ahead of the event.

The festival, which organizers describe as "built on love, resilience, and passion for music," will have a special emphasis on visual art installations this year and will be held for the first time on the banks of the Nile in Jinja District from September 15 to September 18.

Revellers will have the opportunity to experience the innovative stage design, a luxurious camping experience, and new tourism activities, such as rafting the Nile rapids all the way to the festival's shores.
