NPS advertises DCI boss position; How to apply

The National Police Service Commission has advertised a vacancy in the position of Director of Criminal investigations (DCI). 

Following the resignation of DCI boss George Kinoti, the commission is mandated to recommend to the President William Ruto persons for appointment as Director of Criminal Investigations.

Through its chairperson Eliud Kinuthia, the commission has now invited interested candidates to send their applications to be considered for the position by midnight, Thursday, October 6, 2022.

How to apply; 

  • Interested candidates are required to submit a detailed curriculum vita, copies of relevant academic and professional testimonials and other relevant supporting documents. 
  • Scanned copies of these documents must accompany an online application.
  • All applications should be clearly marked “Application for the position of Director of Criminal Investigations” and be addressed to The Chairperson National Police Service Commission. 
  • Manual applications should be hand-delivered to the office of the Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer situated at 5th floor Skypark Plaza, and online applications e-mailed in PDF format to recruitmentdci2022@npsc.go.ke .

The preferred candidate is expected to be a Kenyan citizen who has a degree from a University recognised in Kenya and have served a public institution at management level for at least 10 years. 

The candidate is also expected to have knowledge and experience in criminal investigation or policing and have relevant experience in management, law, economics, change management, finance, governance or public administration. 

All applications and those shortlisted will be published in the print media. 

The position of the Director of Criminal Investigations fell vacant after the resignation of George Kinoti, as announced by President William Ruto on September 27. 

Ruto said he has accepted Kinoti’s resignation, paving way for the appointment of a new DCI boss. 

A similar appointment is set to be made in the office of the Inspector General of police, after Hillary Mutyambai went on a 6 months terminal leave. 

Ruto recommended the appointment of Japheth Koome, who is awaiting vetting by parliament.
