'No region will be left behind,' DP Kindiki assures Kenyans on gov't development projects
“We are carrying the entire country along. We want to ensure that no part of the country is left behind. Leadership is not about favouring one group over another; it’s about including everyone,” said the Deputy President.
He made the remarks on Friday while hosting 1,500 residents from Embu County at his official residence in Karen.
The Deputy President emphasized the importance of public participation in shaping development initiatives. He encouraged the residents of Embu to actively identify their county's development priorities and remain engaged to ensure faster implementation.
“It’s important to meet and have a dialogue with the people. This meeting is focused entirely on discussing development priorities and how to move the county forward. I will be meeting similar delegations from all counties to have these discussions,” Prof. Kindiki assured.
Addressing his mandate from President William Ruto, the Deputy President stated that he is committed to delivering results and will not be distracted by those seeking to mislead the public.
“When we go back to the people, I will be accountable for every day I spend in this office. I must deliver on the mandate assigned to me,” he said. “Improving the lives of the people is what keeps me awake, and I have no time for anything else.”
He further stated that the focus of the meetings is not political. “It would be irresponsible to use this platform for politics when there are so many other important matters at hand,” he said.
“We will not allow ourselves to be dragged into early political campaigns by those eager to politicize everything. When the time for campaigning comes, we will do so with the appropriate seriousness.”
Embu County has already seen significant progress through various development initiatives, particularly in roads, agriculture, and electricity.
“We need to address issues related to coffee, tea, Muguka, roads, electricity, as well as youth and women empowerment,” said the Deputy President. “After this meeting, I encourage you to hold me accountable. Ask me what I have done for the people of Embu.”
