'No high moral ground': Mbadi blasts Ichung'wah over state of economy blame game
Appearing on Citizen TV's News Night on Tuesday, Ichung'wah alleged funds at the National Treasury were misappropriated and allocation meant for the Petroleum Levy Development Fund was borrowed in a bid to cover the costs.
However, Mbadi told Ichung'wah to stop distancing himself from the country's financial failures, noting that he was at one point the chairperson of the parliamentary Budget and Appropriations Committee.
"Stop weeping Kimani; you know how this country found itself where it is. You know very well how Jubilee contributed to the problems we have today. You have even tried to distort the figures of money borrowed between 2013 and 2017," said Mbadi.
"You are borrowing money all over the place; now we are where we are, you want to now claim a high moral ground that now because we are not in government we are speaking for the people of Kenya..."
In his defence, Ichung'wah said that he never shied away from taking responsibility while chairing the committee and instead accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of disrupting the Jubilee government's work plan with the BBI and handshake.
"There was a reason why there was heavy investment in infrastructure to anchor our economy towards a projectile of growth through the Big 4 agenda. We abandoned that agenda because Mbadi and Raila Odinga walked into the house and diverted us from the Big 4 to the big two of handshake and the BBI," he said.
