New Inua Jamii registrations surpass 1 million
Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore who spoke on Friday in Maungu, Taita Taveta County reiterated the government's commitment to continue supporting the vulnerable people in the community.
She said the current registrations stand at 1,094,119 as more people are expected to turn up before the end of the month.
The CS further revealed that new members who fall under severe vulnerable conditions will be screened to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria.
“Those listed under Orphans and Vulnerable Children and the severely disabled will further be screened to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria,” she stated.
Currently, the government allocates an annual budget of Ksh.26 billion to sustain 1.2 million Kenyan citizens through the Inua Jamii cash program.
The categories include 353,000 orphans and vulnerable children, 833,129 elderly citizens, and 47,000 persons with severe disabilities across the country.
CS Bore was accompanied by MPs Abdi Khamis Chome (Voi), Danson Mwashako (Wundanyi ), Lydia Haika Mizighi (Taveta Woman Rep) Peter Shake Mbogho (Mwatate) and John Bwire (Taveta).
