Nakuru War Memorial Hospital management retakes facility from county gov’t
The Nakuru War Memorial Hospital management has
gained entry to the hospital this afternoon ending a 13-day standoff over the
25 acre piece of land.
Nakuru County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi
facilitated the exercise after he was compelled by the Nakuru Law Courts Judge
Anthony Ombwayo to do so, failure to which he would have been sentenced for
contempt.
Shortly before the handover exercise, hundreds
of goons camped at the entrance of the War Memorial Hospital but their
intentions remained unclear.
Reports indicated that they accessed the
hospital after police handed over the facility to the War Memorial Hospital
management.
The Nakuru War Memorial Hospital went to
court 13 days ago after the county government took over the management of the
hospital for a second time in months.
The two factions are embroiled in a land
tussle over the 25 acre piece of land that was leased by the hospital for 99
years, but the county government claims documents were acquired fraudulently.
