Nakuru launches digital marketing campaign to boost tourism
The Nakuru County government has launched a digital
marketing campaign dubbed Tembea Nakuru to bolster tourism in the County.
The tourism CECM Stephen Kuria will spearhead an activation exercise that will target over thirty tourism sites in the county for domestic tourism consumption and bridge the tourism marketing gap in the County.
Kuria, in a statement on Tuesday, emphasized the campaign's role in giving Nakuru a competitive edge in tourism, urging stakeholders to seize the December holiday season for marketing efforts.
Tourism and Culture Chief Officer John Koech added that Nakuru plans to market its unique features, including being the only city with both a lake and a national park, six water bodies, and several prehistoric sites.
The Tembea Nakuru campaign has been launched under a partnership between the Directorate of Tourism and Culture in partnership with NaxCity Kenya Ltd.
NaxCity Kenya Ltd, a registered marketing agency based in Nakuru will support the directorate in documenting known and hidden tourism attraction sites.
They will also publish these features on dedicated campaign digital platforms; Website www.tembeanakuru.co.ke, YouTube (Tembea Nakuru) and Social Media.
On his part, Sarova Hotels Nakuru's Cluster General Manager Duncan Mwangi noted that the initiative will significantly impact on the Hospitality sector through bed conversions and conference uptake.
His sentiments were echoed by Great Rift Association of Tour Operators (GRATO) Chairperson Jane Karanja who called for exploration of hidden gems and promotion of the rich Eco-Tourism in Nakuru County.
Shell Kenya will facilitate mobility during the documentary production, citing it as a noble initiative towards unpacking tourism assets that will significantly drive domestic, regional and international tourists to the county.
Other stakeholders include Kenya Wildlife Service, Nakuru Tourism Association, Tour Operators Society of Kenya (TOSK), Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA), Nairobi Women’s Hospital, Utamaduni Nature Park and Mwaura Properties Ltd.
