The court has found evidence against two people linked to the January 15, 2019, DusitD2 Hotel terror attack where 21 people died.

Hussein Mohammed Abdile and Mohamed Abdi Ali appeared before Kahawa Law Court Lady Justice Diana Kavedza on Tuesday where the court ruled that the two have a case to answer.

According to a statement by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP), Lady Justice Kavedza in her ruling placed the pair on their defence after the court found sufficient evidence to support the case.

“Having considered the evidence of 55 witnesses, including expert testimonies, and the material presented before me, I am satisfied that the prosecution has established a prima facie case against the two accused persons. I hereby place the second accused, Hussein Mohamed Abdile, and the third accused, Mohamed Abdi Ali, on their defence,” ruled the judge.

The ODPP says the ruling followed the conviction of the first accused person in the case Mire Abdullahi after he entered a plea bargain.

Abdullahi was arrested along with the duo following the terror attack.

The hearing is set for February 5 and 6, 2025, during which the defence will have the opportunity to present their case by producing witnesses at the Kahawa Law Court.
