Mystery in abduction of Eastleigh woman deepens as detective arrest her ex-husband

After she was rescued, Adan was escorted for medical attention while the suspect and the motor vehicle taken to DCI Makadara Nairobi for further action.

Detectives in Nairobi have apprehended a suspect in the kidnapping of a 39-year-old woman who was rescued on Sunday after a harrowing three-day ordeal.

The operation involved a team of detectives from Nairobi Area, as well as DCI Imenti North and DCI Igembe Central.

Abdullahi Mohamed Guled, the prime suspect in the kidnapping, was the woman's ex-husband, who had chosen a rather unorthodox method to rekindle a relationship with his estranged wife.

Shankara Adan Hassan, who was rescued from an abandoned house in Meru, told detectives that she was kidnapped by three men, one of whom she recognized as her ex-husband.

She claimed the suspect told her he still loved her and was kidnapping her so they could live together again in Kachiongo, Maua, and Meru.

Adan was abducted on Likoni Road in Nairobi on her way to work at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

According to the officers, they first arrested the suspect in Maua Town, and after an intense interrogation, he led them to an abandoned residential house on the outskirts of Maua Town, where the victim was.

According to the police, the victim only drank water during her three days in the abandoned house.

During the operation, a salon car believed to have been used in the abduction was impounded, and officers said a manhunt for two suspects who remain at large is ongoing.

Adan was escorted for medical attention after she was rescued, while the suspect and the motor vehicle were taken to DCI Makadara Nairobi for further action.

According to family, Shankara was selling tea and snacks at the airport cargo section prior to her kidnapping.

She was riding in a taxi from Eastleigh Section 3 to JKIA on October 12 when individuals posing as police officers flagged her down.

The driver reported to police that, at approximately 10 p.m, on the night of the alleged kidnapping, he pulled over at the Likoni Bridge on Likoni Road in Nairobi.

He said men who were in a salon car flagged him down as he drove ahead of it.

After he pulled over, the two occupants, who pretended to be police officers, alighted and ordered the female passenger to board their vehicle.

He then informed the driver that she was wanted and that they were transporting her to Shauri Moyo Police Station for questioning.

The driver stated that the woman was a regular customer and that he frequently drove her from Eastleigh to the airport and back.

He then called and informed the victim's relatives about the incident, and when they arrived at Shauri Moyo Police Station, they were surprised to discover that their sister had gone missing.

According to police, the registration number of the vehicle in which the victim was forced to board was not captured. However, it has been confirmed that it is the same one recovered in Maua.
