President William Ruto has stated that his eyes are not set on re-election in the 2027 General Elections, but instead focused on injecting a permanent transformation in Kenya.

Speaking during a church service in Sotik, Bomet County on Sunday, Ruto noted that his interests are mainly in remodelling the approach service delivery has taken in the past decades for the nation's posterity.

The Head of State further went on to chastise leaders whose main focus is always securing their positions in future elections at the expense of crippling development in their regions.

"I am not planning on being re-elected I am planning on how we will transform Kenya. That is my mission. Being elected again is by God's plan and the will of Kenyans. My work is not planning on how I will be re-elected my work is changing Kenya," he said.

"We cannot continue to focus on the next election. We must begin to focus on the next generation."

While asserting that he harbors a deliberate plan to realise his ambitious vision for Kenya, Ruto said that he is seeking to offset Kenya's monstrous debt burden while also fostering a conducive environment for a better economy.

"As I speak about 8 countries in Africa have been plunged into insolvency and I want to tell you that I will not be a president to take you to such a place," noted Ruto.

He even claimed that Kenya will be receiving lumpsum monetary support from "friends and investors" who he says have warmed up to the promising economic climate in the country.

This comes a few days after Kenya received Ksh.103 billion ($682 million) from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) boosting the current lending programme by $938 million.

Kenya is grappling with acute liquidity challenges caused by uncertainty over its ability to access funding from financial markets before a Ksh.303 billion ($2B) Eurobond matures in June 2024.
