‘My house was also searched when Uhuru was in power,’ Mudavadi says
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has
come out to defend the recent raid on former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s son
Jomo’s Karen home, saying that his residence was also searched during the former
regime.
“Nataka niambie walio hapa ...even when
former president was at the helm...they even came to search for firearms in my
house...we are not above the law,” he said.
In remarks which appeared to be in response to the former Head of State's lamenting that his family was being targeted, Mudavadi said that President William Ruto was
working to end impunity.
“Don't make it look like it's all about
you, the political vampire must end...it’s time for all of us to say no, enough is
enough,” he stated.
“Impunity must end and the person to end it
is William Ruto, we shall stand with him.”
At the same time, the Prime CS slammed the Opposition over calls to repeal the Finance Act 2023, maintaining
that it was meant to increase revenue and revive the economy.
He exuded confidence that the ongoing criticism
against the Kenya Kwanza government meant that it is on the right track.
“When you hear the cries it means the
country is on the right track…We shouldn't allow this to take root...Uhuru
aliacha madeni makubwa sana...sasa unachochea watu waende kortini kufunga
resources za serikali,” Mudavadi said.
He added: “Baadaye resources zitatoka wapi?
Mshara wa security agencies zitoke wapi? Their time has passed..and we have a
responsibility to grow the economy.”
Kenya Kwanza leaders at the event echoed
Mudavadi’s remarks faulting Uhuru for crying foul after the raid at his son’s Karen residence on Friday night.
