Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary nominee Mithika Linturi has revealed that he is worth an estimated Ksh.1.2 billion, but is expecting to be worth over Ksh.2.2 billion in a year.

Linturi made the declaration before the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments during vetting process on Friday, saying that his wealth comes from investments in properties, ownership of vehicles, membership in Sacco groups and shares in different companies.

“My financial net worth, which includes my investments in various companies in this country and other investments in Saccos, adds to the tune of Ksh.1.2 billion,” Linturi said.

“The movable asserts that I own includes properties that are developed, vehicles available for my personal use and the number of shares I own in the various Sacco institutions including the Parliamentary Sacco; directorship in different companies where I am one of the largest shareholders, and all this total to the tune of around Ksh.1.2 billion.”

The former Meru Senator also noted that he is a farmer, focusing on livestock and crop farming, from which he gets a substantial amount of income.

“My current incomes are the money that I get out of rental income, out of businesses that I do. I am a dairy farmer, I keep cows and goats, I do sukuma wiki, and the amount of money I am expecting to get in the near future is beyond Ksh. I billion,” he stated.

He went on to reveal that he expects to be worth over Ksh.2.2 billion in a year after some of his debtors, including the government and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) pay him back for what he termed as wrongful prosecution.

“I have court awards that I have been taxed and not been paid; one that I’m trying to deal with is that EACC owes me money for wrongful prosecution. The other is the government for failure to pay for works done and that is what contributes to beyond a billion shillings,” he said.
