Murder of Utawala taxi driver Evans Moracha: Two more suspects including suspended police officer arrested

The two, Stanley Collins Muthika and Kennedy Murimi Kinyua, are believed to have been accomplices of the main suspect who is the wife of the deceased.
Sources privy to the operation told Citizen Digital that Muthike and Murimi were arrested on Friday by Nairobi Region Crime Research detectives acting on “actionable intelligence information on the perpetrators.”
The first to be apprehended was Muthike who was seized in Nyeri's Ruringu village and upon interrogation led the detectives to Olekasasi ward within Ongata Rongai township where Murimi was arrested.
According to police, Murimi is a police constable driver stationed at Akila Police Station in Lang’ata but is currently under interdiction following desertion of duty.
The two are detained are detained at Capitol Hill and Kilimani Police Stations.
According to the DCI, preliminary findings indicate that Moracha did not just disappear but was picked from his house by the two men on the night of Oct 11, in the presence of his wife.
The body of Evans Mochara was found dumped in Maragua Dam in Murang’a County on October 14, two days after he went missing from his home in Mihang'o area of Utawala in Nairobi.
Teresia who is the prime suspect in her husband’s disappearance and subsequent murder was arrested a week later after filing a suspicious missing person report.
She was presented at the Makadara Law Courts on Monday, where the police initially sought a miscellaneous application to detain her for an additional seven days.
However, the situation took a dramatic turn when an unidentified body found in Maragua Dam, Murang'a, last Saturday, was positively identified as that of 47-year-old Evans Moracha.
This prompted the police to amend their application, requesting 21 days to conclude their investigations.
Call data analysis revealed that Masese was the last person to speak to her spouse at 21:06 hours on Wednesday last week, just four hours before he was picked up from his home at 1 a.m. on Thursday.
On Saturday, two days after Evans went missing, she filed a missing person report at Kayole Police Station. Coincidentally, it was the same day the decomposing body of Evans Moracha was discovered.
Masese would later be arrested a week after her suspicious report came to light.
During the interrogation, she denied speaking to or seeing her husband on that particular day and had earlier refused to cooperate when summoned by the police.
Before the discovery of the body, Moracha's car embarked on a mysterious journey. It left the Chokaa area at 1:44 AM on Thursday, joining Kangundo Road, passing through Sagana at 03:49 AM, and then Kirinyaga just 54 minutes later.
By 06:50 AM, the vehicle was seen in Kasarani, Nairobi, and later at the Astrol Petrol Station in Runda, before moving on to Gitaru and then to Ongata Rongai at 10:02 AM. It was later spotted at South C at 11:09 AM and at Airport South Road in Pipeline at 3:01 PM before being abandoned in Nairobi's Njiiru area, just a few kilometres from his home.
