'Mt Kenya owes Kalonzo a debt': Gachagua hints at 2027 political alliance with Wiper Leader

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hinted at a political alliance with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, stating that Kalonzo has proven to be an ally of the mountain in difficult times and, as such, the mountain shall return the favour at the right time.

Gachagua says the mountain owes Kalonzo a debt for supporting the late President Mwai Kibaki, and 2027 is the time to pay the debt.

The former deputy president has often talked about giving the Mt. Kenya region and his supporters political direction next year, but Rigathi Gachagua may have already let the cat out of the bag, hinting at a political alliance with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka

The former DP who has often talked about giving the Mt. Kenya region and his supporters political direction next year spoke during his visit to Kalonzo's political bastion in Mbooni, Makueni County.

"Wakati tulikuwa tunafukuzwa na wale walitusaidia, nyinyi mlikuja mkatushikilia, na sisi watu wa Mlima Kenya sisi ni watu tuko na shukrani," he said.

He says Kalonzo's political dues in the mountain have now grown with interest, starting from his time as Kibaki's vice president, and that Kalonzo has proven his unwavering loyalty to the people of Mt. Kenya when it matters the most.

"Huyu Kalonzo alisimama na Mwai Kibaki na hiyo deni hatukulipa. Sasa kura lazima tutaweka debe moja," added Gachagua.

Gathoni Wamuchomba, MP for Githunguri on her paert said: "Ni vibaya mukiingia katika GEMA association? Ni vibaya tukisukuma mmoja wenu aingie State House aonje chai ya State House?"

Gachagua at the same time condemned the planned livestock vaccination by the government, saying it is a top-down imposition and that Kenyans must be consulted.

"Kenyans have a right. Si ng’ombe ni yao? Sasa wewe unaenda hapo na unataka kulazimisha badala usikilize vile wanataka," Gachagua said.

He also condemned President William Ruto over what he termed as the persecution of politicians in Nyandarua County after a disgruntled crowd refused to listen to the president's Jamhuri Day speech.

"Sasa utashika kila mtu? Badala uanze kuandika vitu za ukweli. Unataka kushika kila mtu?" Gachagua posed.

Gachagua's statement in Makueni is the clearest indication yet that he is keen and willing to rally his supporters behind Kalonzo in 2027.
