Mt Kenya leaders form 'Haki Coalition', to be guided by Uhuru Kenyatta
A section of leaders drawn from the Mt Kenya region have
announced the formation of the HAKI coalition which they say will push for the
region's interests and unity under the guidance of former President Uhuru
Kenyatta insisting that he remains the region's spokesperson.
Led by NARC Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua and Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni leaders accused Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of failing to protect the interest of the region despite being in government.
Speaking on Friday during the Limuru III conference which brought together other political leaders, professionals and businessmen from Mt Kenya, the leaders also slammed the government over what they described as punitive taxation measures terming their support of the Kenya Kwanza Administration a mistake they must correct.
The meeting also resulted in leaders drafting five resolutions namely; working towards uniting the region, pursuing the region's interest through all means and allocation of national resources which they said must be guided by one man one vote one shilling policy.
They also resolved to reserve the right to address the issues that negatively affect the people and to unite under one umbrella movement to discuss things affecting the region.
