The legislators had threatened to boycott the afternoon session in protest over the delayed release of the funds.
The MPs sought Treasury CS John Mbadi to make good his promise to release the funds ahead of parliament's recess to facilitate the issuance of bursaries to pupils and students who are set to open school and resume studies in less than two weeks.
"This is the worst year in terms of release of NGAF and CDF resources," Kitui Central MP Benson Makali said.
The MPs pointed out that CS Mbadi had his work cut out for him as he's set to face his former colleagues.
"The CS would rather come here after he's disbursed the funds; failure to this, we will hold him hostage until he does so," Laikipia North MP Sarah Korere noted.
These delays raised concerns about the likely impact on crucial development projects, particularly those related to education, infrastructure, and community support programmes.
It took the intervention of the Speaker and the Majority and Minority Leaders to convince the lawmakers to carry on with the business of the day and wait to square it out with CS Mbadi on Wednesday.
"We expect that when he comes here, he will be telling us this portion of the money has been sent and when he is going to wire the rest," Speaker Moses Wetangula remarked.
"He had better come with his chequebook," Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah noted.
