Moses Kuria's address disrupted by crowd at Muranga MCA's burial
Kuria had taken the lectern to condole with the deceased's family but quickly segued into political babble, irking mourners and the clergy.
As Kuria was speaking, the priest presiding over the ceremony started singing church hymns as the politician struggled to express his unwelcome sentiments.
"I will speak, I will speak," he struggled as a tumult of hymns rented the air and the mourners stood in unison sending him off stage.
Kuria was not the only casualty of the unwelcome political talk in the ceremony as a representative sent from the office of the Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki, was also heckled.
The representative took the stage to read a Kindiki's tribute and the crowd similarly denied him an audience, forcing the presiding priest to urge him to step off the stage.
"It is always good to be humble before the lord, kindly hand over the tribute to the family," said the priest.
The hostile reception comes amid rising political tensions after Rigathi Gachagua was impeached and Kindiki appointed as his replacement, corroding the political landscape in the Mt. Kenya region.
All leaders linked to Gachagua's ouster have received a hostile reception in the region, including President Ruto who was booed by a crowd in Embu on November 16, during the consecration and installation of Bishop Peter Kimani in the Embu Diocese.
Recently leaders have seemingly avoided political rallies in the region, speculatively avoiding the awaiting hostile reception.
