Moses Kuria: Kenya Kwanza ferry their supporters in buses during campaigns

Speaking to Citizen TV on Sunday, Kuria said some of the leaders hire buses and fill them with their supporters who are ferried to different areas. 

"I think there is a problem happening in Kenya Kwanza which for me I found unfortunate and vowed not to engage in...whereby we have 9 meetings in three constituencies or four then somebody tags along their supporters.

What my competitors do is that they have got tens of buses and lorries to transport their fans from one place to the other so that they are cheered," Kuria said. 

The Chama Cha Kazi Party leader further distanced himself from being consumed into the trend, claiming that it deludes the leaders on the legitimacy of  the numbers of their supporters in respective regions.

"My position is one should just go alone so that I can see whether I have legitimate support in that area. The problem is that it distorts what I call 'market dynamics' because you never get to know whether you have real support on the ground."

Kuria further cleared the air on his fallout with the DP Ruto-led coalition, saying his issues are with the camp and not the Deputy President or his running mate.  

He refuted claims that Ruto's running mate Gachagua orchestrated the attacks aimed at his party and Kabogo's Tujibebe Wakenya Party, which are part of the Kenya Kwanza coalition. 

Kuria claims he wouldn't blame Gachagua because he was under strict orders.

"I don't see Rigathi Gachagua in this, but I think we have a fundamental problem, I have a complaint against UDA, I'm, sure Rigathi is under instruction. Even if he is mistreating me out there, it is not Rigathi Gachagua the man," Kuria said. 

Kuria and Kabogo last week vowed to pull out of the Kenya Kwanza campaign rallies on grounds that UDA politicians are allegedly given priority at the events while their members are being bullied and gagged.

He has accused the UDA party leadership of sidelining aspirants seeking the Kiambu Governor’s seat, which he is also eyeing, on relatively smaller parties within the larger Kenya Kwanza alliance.
