The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Malindi, Kilifi County, have arrested two robbery suspects believed to be part of a criminal gang responsible for a recent break-in within the area that resulted in the theft of property of unknown value.
One of the suspects,
34-year-old Victor Otieno, was arrested after police, acting on
intelligence reports, laid an ambush along the Kilifi-Malindi Road on Wednesday.
Police reports indicate
that Otieno was aboard a motorcycle, Reg. No. KMGC 208C, with another suspect, when they ignored the officers’ order to stop at the Kilifi bridge, prompting

Otieno was arrested, but
the rider, who reportedly fired back at the officers during the
high-speed chase, managed to escape.
“The one who escaped was pursued to Mtwapa
area but was not found,” the police report reads.
The operation continued through the night, with another suspect, 74-year-old Msilim Salim Msilim, being apprehended.
