Mombasa school administrator arraigned after pupil was beaten over chapati ‘theft’

Nancy Nyaguthii, the director of Gremon Education Centre, and a Form 4 student at the school were on Wednesday arraigned at Shanzu Law Courts over grievously harming a Class 7 pupil.

The two are accused of assaulting the minor over claims that he picked 5 chapatis instead of the required one.

Senior Principal Magistrate David Odhiambo ordered that the two be remanded until February 14 pending investigations into the matter.

The incident is said to have happened on January 23 at the school.

The victim is still nursing injuries at the Coast General Hospital in Mombasa County.
