Mombasa clinical officer suspended over alleged sexual assault of patient

Dias Jumba Wabwire allegedly raped a patient undergoing dialysis at the facility on January 31, 2025.

A Mombasa-based clinical officer accused of sexually assaulting a patient at Pandya Hospital has been suspended by the Clinical Officers Council.

Dias Jumba Wabwire allegedly raped a patient undergoing dialysis at the facility on January 31, 2025.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In a statement, the Council announced the immediate suspension of Wabwire’s practicing license pending investigations.

CEO Ibrahim Wako stated that they are collaborating with law enforcement and will take disciplinary action following due process.

While condemning the incident, Wako noted that no formal complaint has been filed with the Council.

However, a team of officers has been dispatched to conduct a comprehensive investigation.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has also condemned the assault, alleging that the victim had been previously raped by the same suspect.

The organization called for the arrest of additional individuals accused of obstructing justice.
