Mombasa Cement owner Hasmukh Patel dies in hospital
Renowned Mombasa businessman and owner of
Mombasa Cement Company Hasmukh Patel has died.
According
to reports, Patel died while receiving treatment at a private hospital in
Nyali.
Mombasa Governor
Abdulswamad Nassir took to his official X account to mourn Patel’s death as he
condoled with the family saying the businessman will be remembered for his
participation in society affairs in the Coastal region as well as
generous support for the underprivileged.
“We have
learned with sadness of the passing of businessman Hasmukh ‘Hasuu’ Patel of
Mombasa Cement Limited in Mombasa. Mr Patel will be remembered for his active
participation in society affairs in Mombasa as well as his generous support for
the underprivileged,” stated Nassir.
“I take
this opportunity on behalf of the County Government of Mombasa to offer our
deepest condolences to the family and friends of the departed. We will stand
with you during this difficult time.”
Patel is
known for his charitable work in the Coast region, especially helping
underprivileged families settle hospital bills and footing school fees for
needy students.
He will
also be remembered for his contribution of Ksh.700 million which helped to
transform Kibarani dumping site into a recreational park.
His body
has since been transferred to the Pandya hospital morgue.
