NBC Miami reports Pamela Gladys Gaensel, 47, was arrested in Sunrise Wednesday on a charge of child abuse without great bodily harm.
Prosecutors say she pulled the 6-year-old from the SUV by his hair, threw him to the sidewalk and chucked a booster seat at him.
The video then reportedly shows Gaensel putting the boy back inside the vehicle. Sunrise police say smacking sounds caught on surveillance camera were slaps, and then the boy is yanked from the car again.
The mother is seen tossing items over her son’s head and into a neighboring yard. The child retrieved the items himself. The footage later captured the suspect calling her son an expletive.
A concerned citizen contacted police and officers went to the child's school and found marks on the boy.
“When law enforcement examined the child and saw that the child had marks on his back from being slapped, marks and bruises on the child’s face, arms and palms,” said a prosecutor, according to WSVN.
Gaensel told police she was reprimanding her son for unhooking his car seat.
She was arrested for child abuse and released on $5,000 bond.
