Molo family forced to hire tractor to transport body to funeral over terrible road

A family was on Friday forced to hire a tractor to transport the body of their kin to a funeral on account of the deplorable condition of the Mau-Kapsita road in Elburgon.

The road has been rendered worse by the recent rounds of rains that continue to pound the area.

The family of the deceased hired a tractor on Friday to transport the coffin from the Elburgon Hospital Mortuary to Kapsita village for the burial.

Photos of the tedious, muddy and messy journey went viral on social media, with Kenyans calling out the local leadership.

“Did these Kenyans wake up to vote for anyone during the last General Election and where are those leaders today,” one Martin Githuku asked on Facebook.

Locals say no car can traverse the messy roads which sometimes forces them to seek odd alternatives to transport sick relatives to hospitals or bodies from the mortuary.

Only last week, during the funeral of a local resident Francis Karanja’s mother, the family spent over 8 hours, treading mud on a tractor on a journey that takes 1 hour on dry days.

“We are all fools because we will still entertain these leaders when they come to beg for votes in 2022,” a June Waruguru told Inooro FM.

Locals now want the local leaders to come to the rescue and fix the road which continues to be a daily nightmare.
