MoH, KMPDU set for talks to end doctors’ strike
In a statement to newsrooms, KMPDU Secretary General Dr. Davji Atellah said the meeting will be an opportunity for parties to engage in constructive dialogue and work towards resolving the matters outlined in the Union’s strike notice.
Until the deliberations bear fruit, the union told doctors to keep off work.
“We want to emphasize that our strike continues until our demands are met. We understand the challenges and sacrifices each of you is making, and we want to assure you that your efforts are not in vain. Your unwavering commitment to our cause is what strengthens our position at the negotiating table,” KMPDU stated.
The union called for the strike after MoH’s failure to post medical interns, non-adherence to their 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) among other issues.
Doctors have maintained the strike despite a court order last week, where the Employment and Labour Relations Court Judge Byram Ongaya suspended the doctors strike to pave way for negotiations.
The strike began on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
