Mob justice turns deadly in Ndhiwa as two killed in cow theft mix-up

The victims, who were transporting a cow in a Probox vehicle, were attacked while attempting to replace a burst tire.
Members of the public suspected them of having stolen the animal from Kanyamwa Kologi and were en route to Kabouch South.
Ndhiwa Sub-county Police Commander, Mr. John Losia, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Bob Ochieng, a local butcher, and Kevin Odero, the driver of the vehicle. According to police, the two were mistakenly attacked and killed by the mob, who believed they were cattle thieves.
Mr. Losia stated that Bob Ochieng had hired the vehicle to collect a cow he had legally purchased for slaughter from a seller in Kanyamwa Kologi. However, before reaching their destination, they were ambushed and brutally attacked with crude weapons.
The victims reportedly suffered deep panga cuts and succumbed to excessive bleeding at the scene. Their vehicle was also set ablaze by the attackers.
The police commander strongly condemned the act and cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that the two men were innocent and died in a tragic case of mistaken identity.
