Missing phone in Gatundu leaves best friends with 3 missing teeth, dents and a broken rib

Two friends are seeking justice after being beaten to within inches of their lives by a mob in Gatundu's Nembu area.

According to John Kibathi and his friend Dennis Kamau, they were spending their Monday evening at a joint in Nembu village when they were attacked by a group of youth who were partying at an adjacent table.

They were accused of stealing one of the revellers' phones before being dragged out in a hail of kicks and crude weapons.

"We were accused of stealing a phone in Nembu, and were beaten mercilessly by the accusers." Kibathi told Citizen.Digital from Gatundu hospital where he was treated after the incident.

"We did not have that phone, and even after beating us and looking for the phone, there was no phone that was recovered,"

"They beat us with stones and sticks,"

Kibathi claimed he had a broken rib as a result of the beatings and a heavily bandaged face as a result of the severe clobbering.

His friend Kamau was not as fortunate; in addition to multiple facial and head injuries, he also suffered three broken teeth.

"We were seated somewhere in Nembu and one of the people who was sitting beside us said they had lost a phone," said Kamau.

"They then picked us and started beating us up with stones and sticks...they had even moved us from the town centre to a secluded place where we didnt know what they wanted to do,"

The two friends are now seeking justice and want action taken against their attackers.
