Missing City Hall intern found dead, several suspects arrested

The late Elvis Munene, a City Hall intern and KCA University student.
The body of Elvis Munene, the City Hall intern and a KCA
University student, has been found at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after a
long search of 23 days without a trace.
After his disappearance on January 29, 2025, Citizen TV
highlighted Munene's family's agony of looking for their son.
Munene left home for the City Hall Annex, IT department, where
he was an intern. Citizen TV has now learnt that his close friend Keith Chacha
made a call to him while he was leaving the City Hall Annex.
According to messages exchanged between Chacha and a family
member, the two men had ventured downtown to purchase a phone cover.
During this outing, they were confronted by police officers
who detained Chacha, handcuffing him.
However, Elvis managed to escape the scene, only to be
captured by an alleged mob at the junction of Kirinyaga Road and Charles Rubia
Road and attacked around 5pm and 7:30pm.
Eyewitness reports suggest that police officers arrived
shortly after, rescuing Elvis from the mob and calling for an ambulance.
"Ilikuwa tu masaa ya 6 jioni hapo, walikuwa vijana wanne
wakiteremka pale na wote walikuwa marafiki. Wakati wakizozana nikaenda zangu,
kurudi nilipata amepigwa,” said a boda boda rider, Charles Kamande.
Another witness, Edward Mwangi, added: “Huyo jamaa walisnatch
simu hapa chini, akakuja akitaka kutoroka hivi juu watu wakamshika wakamchapa.
Polisi wakakuja, wakakataza watu kumchapa, ambulance ikakuja, ikamchukua
wakaenda. Hatujui waliendaje."
Elvis was then transported to the Kenyatta National Hospital
(KNH), where he received immediate medical attention.
Despite efforts to stabilize him, Elvis was later admitted to
the ICU, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later, on Sunday. His body
was transferred to the KNH mortuary.
The family, unaware of Elvis’s whereabouts during this time,
continued their search until Thursday evening, February 20, when they
discovered his body in the mortuary.
They identified him by visible injuries to his head. This
development raised several questions regarding the sequence of events leading
to Elvis’s tragic death.
In response to these developments, Chacha, along with others
connected to the case, has been arrested.
Authorities are now questioning them in an effort to uncover
the full details of what transpired on that fateful day.
Detectives are awaiting a formal medical report to determine
the cause of Elvis’s death, after which a postmortem examination will be carried
out.
Elvis Munene, an intern at the City Hall IT department, was
last seen by his colleagues when leaving work at the City Hall Annex.
Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage obtained
from the City Hall premises to establish his movements prior to his departure.
Key questions remain regarding his disappearance and the
circumstances leading up to the mob attack.
