A section of Members of Parliament allied to embattled former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s proposed inter-generational conclave, terming it a political ploy that undermines their movement and fails to address the real concerns of young people.

Led by Murang’a Senator John Nyutu and Naivasha MP Jane Kihara, the legislators held a press briefing in Nairobi where they firmly rejected any dialogue that, according to them, seeks to dilute or redirect their agenda.

“This dialogue is misleading and self-serving. It is not about the youth—it is about protecting entrenched political interests,” said Kihara.

The MPs further condemned the recent demonstrations taking place across the country, warning that the situation is escalating into what they termed a “targeted war” against specific communities.

They accused unnamed sitting MPs of allegedly hiring goons to incite chaos, loot businesses, and torch property.

In a strong statement, the Gachagua-aligned team demanded that National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula establish a Commission of Inquiry into the Saba Saba protests, which they claim left at least 11 people dead. They are also threatening to petition the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the killings.

“The bloodshed cannot go unaccounted for. President William Ruto has failed to uphold the Constitution and protect the rights of all Kenyans,” one MP stated.

The statement signals a deepening rift within the political landscape, as opposition to Raila’s dialogue initiative grows among leaders aligned with Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
