Millicent Moraa: 24-year-old Kenyan dies mysteriously in Saudi Arabia
Another Kenyan
family from the Ting’a area of Nyamira County is mourning the death of their
24-year-old kin who died under mysterious circumstances in the Gulf country of Saudi
Arabia.
July 14th was
the last time Simon Obuya spoke to his wife Millicent Moraa who had by then
spent only three months in the gulf country of Saudi Arabia, having travelled
there on the 17th of March this year in search of greener pastures.
Despite securing
a job in less than a month after her arrival in the country, the late Moara had
on a number of times raised concerns over her employer's inappropriate sexual
advances and had asked BK Sibs, the agency that had taken her there, to find
her another employer.
“Mwanzo
Akakaa
huko but after kitu kama wiki mbili hivi akaanza kucomplain employer wake
anamharass sexually,” Obuya tells Citizen TV.
Her untimely
demise the family says, came after she went back to this employer having left
the home after a month there. the employer requested her back, promising to
quit the advances, something that was never to be. this forced her to hatch a
plan to leave the house, with the help of her agent.
“Alikuwa
Hio
ndio mara ya mwisho niliskia kutoka kwa Millicent,” the husband narrates.
Two months on,
even after the family received the news of Moraa’s demise on the 23rd of July
in what health authorities in Saudi termed as a result of a brain freeze
resulting from a fall, the body is yet to be repatriated for burial, despite
the agency telling the family that all payments required, had been made to
bring her back home.
“Kuna documents
Areba.
The family that
has been in mourning in the last month since the incident now wants the
government to help them bring Moraa home for burial and closure.
