Three people have been arrested in Kimilili,
Bungoma County, for allegedly attacking and killing a medical
military officer attached to the Moi Air Base barracks.
Kimilili Police Station OCPD Mwita Marwa,
confirming the incident, told Citizen Digital that a scuffle ensued between the
officer – identified as Edward Barasa – and a group of rowdy youth he was
drinking with at a chang’aa den in Maeni village.
The youth are then said to have descended on the
military man with blows and kicks, before one of them hit him on the head with a
wooden stick.
Barasa reportedly succumbed to his injuries before
reaching the Kimilili sub-county hospital where he was being rushed for
treatment as he had deep cuts on the head and on his left hand.
Mr. Marwa has since warned people against taking
the law into their own hands, adding that police officers have since launched
investigations into the incident with an aim of bringing the culprits to book.
