Miguna Miguna visits Kenyan embassy in ongoing voter registration

Lawyer Miguna Miguna is among Kenyans living in the diaspora who have visited Kenyan Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

IEBC on Friday shared a photo of Miguna and other Kenyans at the embassy in Toronto, Canada which is one of the countries where the diaspora voter enlisting exercise is happening.

"Miguna Miguna was among the many Kenyans living in Canada, who visited Kenya High Commission office and Consulates to register as a voter, change particulars or transfer their voting station from Kenya to Canada," said IEBC in a tweet.

The Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration is  ongoing in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver for 15 days.

The voter registration exercise entered its third and final week on Monday and is set to go on until ​​February 6 in the country while the diaspora registration goes on​​for 15 days after the respective date of commencement.

On Monday IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said an additional 1,054 voters have been recorded in the diaspora.

This time round the electoral commission included the United Kingdom, Canada, USA, South Sudan, Qatar, UAE and Germany in the exercise. 

At the same time, eligible voters in Burundi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa will also be registered at the Kenyan Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates.

IEBC targets to register an additional 4.5 million eligible voters both in the country and diaspora.
