Migori: Probe on for county officer who assaulted truck driver for urinating in public

Police in collaboration with Migori county government are investigating a county enforcement officer who is accused of assaulting a tipper driver for allegedly urinating in the open within Rongo town, Rongo Sub County on Wednesday.

The assault prompted the lorry operators in Rongo town to down their tools and protest against the conduct of enforcement officers in the area.

Rongo lorries transporters SACCO chairperson Pius Onyango said the driver sustained serious injuries in the head.

Oyango, who led the transporters in a protest, wants the county government of Migori to ensure that the enforcement officer is arrested and charged.

Migori County executive committee member in charge of public service management John Kobado said the matter is under investigation and they will take necessary legal action after the investigations.

Kobado said such acts are uncalled for and warned the county government workers against mishandling residents.

He said the medical expenses for the driver assaulted will be catered for by the county government.
