Migori: Four people killed in two boda boda accidents
Four people who included two riders and two pillion passengers, died in two separate accidents which occurred along the Rongo-Migori highway in Rongo and Awendo Sub Counties on Saturday.
Mr.Mark Wanjala, the Migori county police chief, confirmed the incidences, saying the first accident occurred in the morning at Rakwaro in Rongo Sub County, when a rider and pillion passenger died.
Mr.Wanjala claimed that a matatu traveling toward Migori was overtaking another vehicle when it collided with a bodaboda rider headed in the opposite direction.
He stated that the pillion passenger died on the spot, while the rider was rushed to Rongo Sub County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In Awendo sub county, the county police chief stated that the bodaboda rider and pillion passenger were overtaking a lorry when they collided with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction at Komolorume.
Mr.Wanjala stated that the rider died on the spot, while the pillion passenger died while receiving treatment at Rapcom hospital in Awendo Sub County.
The also county police chief stated that investigations into the two fatal accidents have begun.
Meanwhile, Mr. Wanjala has urged motorists on the Rongo-Migori highway to exercise caution in order to avoid accidents.
He stated that the road is still under construction and that there are no road signs or bumps, so users must exercise extreme caution.
Over the last seven months, more than twenty people have died on the Migori-Rongo highway.
