Migori family left homeless after night gas explosion

A family in Nyandema village, Migori County, has been left homeless following a gas explosion on Saturday night.

Confirming the incident, the area acting Assistant Chief Richard Juma said the cylinder containing the gas exploded around 11 pm and burnt the house, together with items inside it.

Juma said the family only managed to salvage a generator. No one was hurt in the gas explosion incident that has left the family homeless.

The area acting Assistant chief said they are yet to establish what caused the gas cylinder to explode adding that the police are doing the investigations.

Meanwhile, Juma has appealed to the families using gas for cooking to be very careful when handling it.

He said they have reported cases of gas explosions in the area and therefore, this should be a lesson to people using the liquid petroleum gas for cooking.
