Migori County Assembly passes KSh.10B budget

Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko.

Migori County Assembly has passed a county budget amounting to Ksh.10.036 billion for the financial year 2023/2024.

The budget that was tabled by the county budget and appropriation committee chairperson Graham Kangali got the support of the majority of the Members of County Assembly (MCAs).

Out of the Ksh.10B budget. Ksh.6.96B  will go to the recurrent expenditure while Ksh.3.07B will go to development.

The budget will be funded by Ksh.8.35B from the equitable share from Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), Ksh.600M locally collected revenue and donor findings.

The Department of Health has been allocated Ksh.2.3B followed by the County Assembly at Ksh.1.03B. The department of Roads, Transport and Public works has been allocated Ksh.759M.

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Development has been allocated Ksh.800M while the Finance and Economic planning department has been allocated Ksh.855M.

County Department of Education, Youth ,Gender and Social Services, Trade, Tourism and Cooperative Development and Water and Energy have been allocated Ksh.681M, Ksh.727M and 415 M respectively in the budget estimate.

The county department of Public Service Management has been allocated Ksh.769M while that of Environment and Natural resources has received Ksh.591M.

The department of land and physical planning has also been allocated Ksh.234M in the 2023/2024 county budget.
