Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza dares MCAs to bring on second impeachment motion
Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has dared
Members of the County Assembly to bring on a planned impeachment motion for a
second time.
Mwangaza
says the plot by the MCAs to oust her will once again fail as they have no
grounds.
The
Governor, who has been at loggerheads with the MCAs and her deputy Rev. Isaac
Mutuma, says the motion being crafted is sponsored by a political party which
she did not mention.
During
her monthly media briefing with a local radio station, the Governor dared the
MCAs to bring on the impeachment motion which comes months after yet another
impeachment was shot down by Senators.
“Najua
mmeskia mambo ya impeachment motion tena...nimeambiwa na MCAs ambao nimeongea
na wao wanasema wanaskumwa na chama,” said Mwangaza.
The
embattled Governor who survived an ouster attempt at the Senate on December 30,
2022, asked the MCAs to do their homework first before tabling an impeachment
motion.
“Mimi
naomba hivi…ata kama mnatafuta impeachment motion you can’t get an answer minus
the formula,” she added.
Governor
Mwangaza blames her woes on leaders she terms as greedy and who she says are
laying grounds to succeed her at the next polls.
“The
few noises sio ya wananchi wa kawaida but a few leaders who are preparing for
2027 General Election,” Kawira stated.
Mwangaza,
who has been in many political battles since taking over the county’s
leadership mantle, asked not to be distracted as she is on course to serve the
residents of Meru County.
‘Watu
hawajaamini kwamba Governor wa Meru ni Mama….sisi kama county ya Meru tumekuwa
na kazi ambazo zinaonekana,” the Governor noted.
The
MCAs, in the first impeachment motion last year, claimed that Mwangaza was
overstepping her mandate and refusing to award the ward development fund.
MCAs are
crafting an impeachment motion which will soon be tabled in the assembly.
