Following the burial of the late ‘Men’s
Conference Chairman’ Mzee Jackson Kibor at his farm in Samitui, Uasin Gishu
County on Friday, the position has now been declared vacant.
The announcement was made by the conference’s
national convenor Albert Kochei, who has since urged all interested persons to
apply for the position.
According to Kochei, a committee will be
formed to vet the qualifications of all persons who might eye the seat.
“We need hard-working, upright and
respectable men who have proved to be defenders for the boy child to come
forward and take over the vacant position,” Kochei told the Nation newspaper.
Kibor, 88, passed away in March at St. Luke’s
Hospital in Eldoret after a long illness, where doctors confirmed his two
kidneys had failed.
The prominent farmer was admitted to the
Intensive Care Unit for some time before doctors confirmed his death on the
said date.
He had been using medical oxygen since
October 2020 after he contracted COVID-19.
He had an oxygen cylinder at his home and
another in his Prado vehicle for use whenever he wanted to visit Eldoret town
for treatment or business.
