Special Thanksgiving Service for Queen Elizabeth to be held in Kenya on Saturday
A special thanksgiving church service to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II, following her untimely passing, will be held in Nyeri County on Saturday, September 17.
According to the program for the service seen by Citizen Digital, the event will be held at St. Stephen ACK Church in Naro Moru, Nyeri County from 11am.
The deceased monarch's death has been met with mixed reviews across the country with some quarters mourning her death while others were indifferent about it when the news of her passing was first made public.
This is largely because Elizabeth was Queen when British soldiers allegedly committed unspeakable acts of brutality against Kenya's Mau Mau freedom fighters between 1952 and 1960.
Queen Elizabeth II, 96, "died peacefully" at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on September 8, 2022, according to an official statement from Buckingham Palce.
She was Britain's longest-serving monarch after succeeding her father King George VI in 1952 following his death.
Following Elizabeth's passing, her eldest son Charles, 73, was officially proclaimed king. King Charles III is the oldest person to ascend to the throne in Britain's history.
