Melvine Thogo is the new UoN students’ association boss

Melvine Thogo is the new
Chairperson of the University of Nairobi Students Association (UNSA).
The third-year law student, who is the outgoing
secretary-general for UNSA Parklands Campus, becomes the second female in the institution
to clinch the seat after Ann Mvurya, who was elected in 2019.
Thogo emerged victorious in the competitive
race to succeed the outgoing chairperson, Eddie Mwendwa Mutua, for the 2022-2023
period.
After being announced the winner, Thogo took
to social media to appreciate her supporters.
"Heartfelt gratitude to the students for
your unwavering belief and support that I can lead this great esteemed
establishment to better prosperous days. I'd love to reiterate that I'll work
towards the betterment of the welfare of the students," she stated.
As the university lauded her for her success,
national leaders also took to social media to congratulate Thogo on her new
achievement.
Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President
and aspiring Westlands MP Nelson Havi said: "The Command Centre and Team
Havi is delighted to announce that it now has two Presidents. Congratulations
Madam President Melvine Thogo on your election as the President of University
of Nairobi Students’ Association (UNSA)”
Advocate Esther Ang'awa stated: "I am
immensely proud of President Melvine Thogo. She made the best Deputy Secretary
of State at the Command Centre. I am delighted to see her scale higher heights
of leadership at the University of Nairobi Students Association. Congratulations
Madam President."
