Following the high cost of living, the Matatu Owners Association (MOA) has urged its members not to increase fares for travellers this Christmas and New Year, as a way of showing goodwill to Kenyans.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, they insist that in the new year, they will move to question why fuel prices are not shooting down yet global prices are recovering.

"We have asked our members to be very cautious when they are charging the fares we will be there to make sure that passengers are not being harassed," said MOA Chairperson Albert Karagacha.

Karagacha has further urged police officers to avoid using force to harass motorists as they keep guard to ensure road safety.

"We want drivers to adhere to the rules in terms of road safety to make sure that our passengers reach safely during this Christmas period," said Karagacha.

"We will be on the road to make sure that our vehicles and passengers are safe."
